Levant Foresights believes yesterday's attempt on presidential candidate Trump's life was in the making for several months, as his stance to win elections improved despite all headwinds.

A popular American proverb says "It's all about business". You better believe it: he now has reasonably high chances to reclaim the presidency and steer the world's predominant power on a new track.

Why and how is it relevant to Levant Foresight's constituents: nations of Southeast Europe and the Middle East?

1. A Trump presidency will most probably seek to capitalize quickly on omissions of current US leadership vis-à-vis the war in Ukraine and the crisis in the Middle East. He is a man who needs to establish a positive legacy in the vacuum created by almost all other global leaders.

2. All economies in SEE have experienced medium to severe impact on trade flows and immigration, leading to strengthening of domestic polarization and swing to nationalism.

3. All economies in the Middle East are experiencing heightened volatility, worsening of costs of funding new projects and elevated domestic risks for investors. 

4. The assassination attempt will affect not only the presidential campaign, but even more so US actions and policies after the election if/when Trump wins. There would be a shake-up in the security services and the politics of influence in the world. as well as a very strong social radicalization.

5. This is not the first case in the United States in the last 60 years. Kennedy, Reagan and now Trump as a former president and candidate. It is time for America to send a clear signal that achieving a political result through violence is killing Western democracy.
