LevIns weekly slingshot: a major global problem

Updated: Feb 6

China. It is being seduced by Russia to antagonise the West, has already emancipated itself from the RoW in Africa and is now unveils policy bytes against deflation and housing stagnation which may send shock waves through world's economic fibres. China sold just sold a massive pile of U.S. debt and its largest property developer all but declared bankruptcy. China will begin to resemble an exotic animal which changes its colours to deceive its hostile environment. Countries with low score on the map below bite in and commence all sorts of radical rapprochements with Peking. It's already a fact in Bulgaria and Greece.

How will this evolve? In the late 1980 China had made rare alliances in Europe, such as Albania. Initially a flirt of two vastly varied dates, between 1949 and 1959 the flirt became an axis of collaboration withstanding Soviet Union's impact on Eastern Europe much like a Chinese tea bag in a western tea shop. Albanian leadership erected two popular beliefs to support its "raizon d'etre": revisionism (a twist to Marx/Lenin lunatism) and imperialism (same old U.S. style of it). As the Soviets cut Albania off in early 1970, that decade China literally set foot in Eastern Europe through the back door. Grain, foreign aid and tons of machines and materials flooded the little Balkan country, often causing chaos. The Albanian Chinese speed- dating lasted almost two decades and today does not exist. But today's CEE politicians have no memory of this episode as they weren't born and most don't really read Wikipedia. The Dutch do. They sold ASML chips to Huawei and enabled its' recent precision shot right at the mobile phone oligopoly which still doesn't believe it. Wake up, the dragon is just clapping its tail. So far.
